At last night’s DVD release party, Suzanna Lubrano handed the very first “Live at Off-Corso” DVD to renowned saxophone player Candy Dulfer, one of the guest artists on the DVD. The release event took place in Amsterdam and was organized in cooperation with the local Brazilian Zouk Dance scene. Candy Dulfer features on the songs “Rezervan”, “Recorda Passado”, “Homi di Branco” and “Tudo Pa Bo”.
On June 18, another DVD release event will be held in Holland Casino, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The DVD contains 17 songs as performed during Suzanna’s recent Off-Corso TV show. These songs include “Nha Sonho”, “Razao d’nha Vida”, “Fofo”, “Tudo Pa Bo”, “Oh Li Oh La”, “Rezervan”, “Recorda Passado”, “Festa Mascarado”, “Quentura Tropical” and many others.
As a bonus, 5 music videos will be included, among them the music video of “Pensa Na Mi. Addtionally, a booklet will be included with an overview of Suzanna Lubrano’s musical career of 15 years.
Last saturday,the annual Dance Parade took place again in New York City. It involved over a hundred different dance groups and thousands of dancers. Zouk Nation was one of the participating dance groups. Among the songs they danced to, were Suzanna Lubrano’s “Festa Mascarado” and “Nunca Mas”.
The parade route began on 21st Street and proceeded down Broadway to the East Village where it finally ended up in Thompkins Square Park, where for the rest of the afternoon groups performed and offered free dance classes. Later in the evening the festivities continued with dance parties at various venues around town.
Praia, 22 May (Inforpress) – Suzanna Lubrano thrilled the Beach of Gamboa with some of the greatest hits of her career.
Songs like “Taxi”, “Pensa Na Mi”, “Fofo” and “Nha Sonho” which won her the award of best African artist at the Kora Awards 2003, were part of the repertoire. Suzanna Lubrano sang in front of delighted festival goers at the XVIII edition of the festival in Praia da Gamboa.
At the end of the show, Suzanna Lubrano has expressed great satisfaction with the vibration of the public, but did not hide her dissatisfaction by the delays that prevented her from giving all she wanted.
“The night was more than good, but I was diissapointed about the delays that prevented me from doing my whole show. But I’m happy with the reception, the audience was amazing”, she said.

Suzanna Lubrano back on Gamboa stage after six years.
With sensuality coupled with her voice, the Cape Verdean singer Suzanna Lubrano, returned with greatness, to the stage at the international music festival at Gamboa Beach, six years later, parading the successes that have marked her career since the beginning.
As has become customary, the artist was very well received by the audience who danced and chimed on all the songs sung by her.
Suzanna Lubrano regretted not having been able to give the public the success of her latest work, “Festa Mascarado” due to some delays which occurred at the beginning of the festival. “I was a little sad because I had a repertoire filled with songs from my latest album.” Despite this setback, Suzanna Lubrano said she was delighted with the way she was received by audiences.
Suzanna Lubrano thrills Assomada audience with her Zouk Love
On the second day of the Assomada Festival, Suzanna Lubrano thrilled her fans with hits like Rezervan and and Tudo Pa Bo.
After several years away from the stage of St. Catherine, her place of brith, the artist says to be satisfied with the reception she got from the audience.
“It was very good. I really enjoyed. And to see my audience enjoy the old songs is very cool. Amazing. It happens because the songs have touched people, they identifiy themselves with the themes. And that’s very gratifying.”
Suzanna Lubrano will appear at the Gamboa Festival in Praia, Cabo Verde, on friday May 21. It will be an early performance to enable her to return to Europe for other obligations. Last night, Suzanna pefromed at the Assomada Festival.
On May 27, the DVD “Suzanna Lubrano – Live at Off-Corso” will be released during an offical presentation in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few months ago, the Off-Corso show was filmed and televised by RTV Rijnmond in the Netherlands, and earlier this year televised by CNT in Brazil and some other networks. The DVD version has been edited in a slightly different way, while five music videos are included as a bonus.
The concert part of the DVD contains 17 songs, including many of Suzanna Lubrano’s popular songs in the Lusophone market, including “Razao d’nha Vida”, “Fofo”, “Tudo pa Bo”, “Nha Sonho”, “Rezervan”, “Silencio”, “Festa Mascarado” and “Oh Li Oh La”
The release will take place at “Kale de Derde”, Ferdinand Bolstraat 18-20, Amsterdam, Netherlands, as from 8 PM.
Voting for the Museke Online Africa Music Awards (MOAMAs) has been extended to May 29, 2010.
Suzanna Lubrano and Mayra Andrade are the only Cape Verdean artists to be nominated for these prestigious awards.
Suzanna Lubrano is nominated in two categories: BEST FEMALE ARTIST and BEST AFRICAN ARTIST BASED IN THE DIASPORA, Mayra Andrade is nominated in the category BEST CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN SONG.
